Background of project
The goal of the project was to reduce WASH deprivation among the poor, marginalized, and disaster vulnerable households living in ‘Dacope’ Upazila of Khulna district in southwest Bangladesh through ensuring their livelihood with access to safe drinking water and better sanitation and improved hygiene and healthcare practices. The project has undertaken public education through training, orientation, discussion meeting, awareness, advocacy and publications to develop the capacity of the stakeholders, especially the Local Government Institutions, DPHE, local citizen leaders, women leaders, the youth and students as well as creation of Ward Development Management Committee in all wards of all Unions so that they played supportive and assistive role for the community. Moreover, some hardware support towards water, sanitation and hygiene is also provided in the project area that ensured community access to the services.
