Dr. M. Monirul Qader Mirza, Adjunct Professor, Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences, University of Toronto, Canada. Dr M. Monirul Qader Mirza is currently an Adjunct Professor and Graduate Faculty Member, Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences, University of Toronto Scarborough. He was associated with Working Group II of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) -the winner of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize and contributed as a Coordinating Lead Author (CLA) and Lead Author to its various assessments. Apart from the IPCC Assessments, he also participated as a CLA in the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment and the Integrated Assessment of Agriculture, Science, Technology for Development (IAASTD) commissioned by the World Bank. His major research interests are natural hazards science, climate change science, adaptation and risks, quantification of vulnerability and adaptation.

Muhammad Abdur Rahaman, Director, Center for People and Environ. Muhammad Abdur Rahaman serves the Center for People & Environ (CPE) as Director. Mr. Rahaman is a dedicated young climate scientist who has worked in the climate science and policy field for more than 20 years. In this journey, Mr. Rahaman has served national and international organizations as a researcher, practitioner, and development actor in climate change, disaster risk reduction, climate-smart agricultural innovations, climate change, and health nexus. Mr. Rahaman serves the Global Taskforce of Climate Change, Water & Energy as Chair to lead scientific research. He served Social Science Research Council (SSRC) as Research Fellow twice (2009 and 2014). He is also an Expert of the International Expert Network on “Household Gardens for Resilience and Recovery” HG4RR) to work for a climate-resilient home garden globally. Mr. Rahaman is also working as scientist panel member of UNESCO Groundwater Youth Network. Mr. Rahaman has achieved Environment Award, 2022 for his outstanding contribution to climate change and environment research, education, and outreach.

Tapas Ranjan Chakraborty, Senior Programme Manager, Climate Change programme, BRAC. Tapas Ranjan Chakraborty has been working in climate change and natural resource management for the last 24 years, focusing on Community Resilience, Technology Transfer, Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Management. He worked with BRAC, Oxfam, Bangladesh POUSH, CNRS, BCAS and SDRC. He has developed a number of training and awareness materials on Climate Action and Natural Resource management. He is with different networks and groups for the management of natural resources and Nature-based Solutions. He was the first country coordinator of the Asia Youth Environment Network supported by the Commonwealth Youth Programme. He was one of the initiators that started ‘Know Risk No Risk’ movement in Bangladesh. He is skilled in policy influence. His areas of interest are action research on climate change, nature-based Solutions and popularizing citizen science. He has developed more than 70 mass awareness materials on climate change and has a good number of research works published on climate action and natural resource management. Bridging the gap between science and policy is his passion.
Dr. Mohammad Mohinuzzaman, Chairman, Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management, at Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. Professor Dr. Mohammad Mohinuzzaman is Chairman of the Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management, at Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. Dr. Mohinuzzaman possesses expertise in climate change and coastal salinity intrusion, seawater intrusion and metals mobility, seawater intrusion and nutrients mobility, and planetary health. His interest goes to biodiversity and food security nexus, halting desertification and drought.
Dr. Md Shamsuzzoha, Chairman, Department of Emergency Management at Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. Dr. Md Shamsuzzoha Chairman of the Department of Emergency Management at Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh, has been with the university since 2010. He earned his Ph.D. in Bioresource Engineering from the University of Tsukuba with a Bangabandhu Science and Technology Fellowship and holds degrees from the University of Rajshahi. An alumnus of the University of Twente, he has participated in international academic events and conferences across Asia, Europe, and beyond.
Dr. Jayanta Choudhury, Head, the Department of Rural Studies, Tripura University, Tripura, India and Secretary, Global Forum for Sustainable Rural Development (GFSRD). Dr. Jayanta Choudhury is an expert in Rural Development with over 22 years of experience in teaching and research. He currently serves as Assistant Professor at Tripura University, India, and has held a position as Associate Professor at the National Institute of Rural Development. He has authored 25 books and over 55 research articles, supervising six Ph.D. scholars. Dr. Choudhury has led international research projects funded by organizations like the World Bank and UNICEF and founded the NETRA Foundation and GFSRD. He is recognized by UNESCO and has received prestigious awards for his contributions to rural development.
Dr. Bhupendra Das, National Technical Expert, Clean Air Asia and Chairperson at Nepal Energy & Environment Development Services, (NEEDS), Bhimdatta, Kanchanpur. Nepal. Dr. Bhupendra Das holds two master’s degrees in Environmental Technology and Environmental Science, along with a PhD in Air Pollution/Emission Inventory from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. With over 15 years of experience, he is currently a Research Officer at the Center for Research for Environment, Energy, and Water (CREEW) and a part-time Kathmandu National Technical Expert at Clean Air Asia. Dr. Das also serves as Chairperson at Nepal Energy and Environment Development Services (NEEDS) and is a visiting faculty member at Tribhuvan University. His work focuses on emission inventories in sectors like healthcare, brick kilns, and transport. He has published extensively and received several awards, including the Science and Technology Promotion Award from Nepal’s Prime Minister in 2023.
Dr. Mohan Kumar Das, Executive Director, NOAMI. Dr. Mohan Kumar Das is the Executive Director of the National Oceanographic and Maritime Institute (NOAMI), Bangladesh, and a hydro-meteorological scientist at RIMES, Thailand. He holds a Ph.D. in Data Assimilation and Mesoscale Weather Extreme Prediction. With extensive experience in meteorology, he has contributed to numerous international programs, training courses, and projects, including those with UNESCO, WMO, and the World Bank. Dr. Das has received multiple awards, including the Ocean Science Best Trainee Award and Best Presenter Award at ICCC 2022. He is also a member of several professional societies and committees globally.
Dr. OM Katel, Wild life biologist and environmentalist, Department of Environment and Climate Studies, College of Natural Resources, Royal University of Bhutan. Dr. Om Katel is a wildlife biologist, environmentalist, and faculty member at the College of Natural Resources, Royal University of Bhutan. He holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resources Management and completed post-doctoral research at Nagoya University. His research focuses on hydrology, water resources, ecosystem services, biodiversity conservation, and climate change. As a National Geographic Explorer, he received a grant in 2021 to study invertebrate diversity in Bhutan’s virgin rivers. Dr. Katel leads the Global Forum for Sustainable Rural Development and the PhD program in Climate Studies, while heading the Centre for Environment and Climate Research at his institution.
