Resilient Roots: Leveraging Indigenous Practices for Salinity Adaptation in Southern Bangladesh
The initiative’s objectives are
- a) Screening out the indigenous knowledge, tools, practices, crop types, and varieties that are effective in agricultural adaptation against increased salinity in Southern Bangladesh.
- b) Assessing the socio-economic-ecological-cultural and resilience feasibility of the screened Indigenous knowledge, tools, practices, crop types, and varieties.
- c) Formulating a bankable project proposal with the aim of:
- Scientifically validating and piloting the screened and feasible/viable/prospective indigenous knowledge, tools, practices, crop types, and varieties.
- Providing policy input at national and international levels through a bottom-up approach.
- Strengthening partnerships with local food systems networks and scaling up the solution outcomes.
These outcomes will contribute to the SW&FS Partnership’s ambitions by promoting sustainable agricultural practices, fostering knowledge sharing, and supporting policy advocacy to address salinity issues.
