Dr. Mohan Kumar Das

Disaster Management Expert 

Dr. Mohan Kumar Das is working as Disaster management expert in Center for People and Environ. He is also an Executive Director at the National Oceanographic and Maritime Institute (NOAMI) in Bangladesh and a hydro-meteorological scientist with the Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (RIMES) in Bangkok. He began his career at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department and later worked with the SAARC Meteorological Research Centre. He earned his Ph.D. in Data Assimilation and Mesoscale Weather Extreme Prediction.

Dr. Das has significantly contributed to programs and training in numerical modeling, climate, and hydrometeorology through various prestigious organizations like SMRC, AGU, CORDEX, and WMO UNESCO (IOC). He has received accolades such as the Ocean Science Best Trainee Award and the Best Presenter Award at ICCC 2022. He is actively involved in several professional groups and committees, including the Meghna Advisory Group and the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society Women’s Network Cell, and has contributed to numerous research publications and international projects.

Additionally, Dr. Das has organized major events in Ocean and Marine Science and is a member of multiple professional societies, including NOAMI, BCS, BPS, IAUC, and AGU. He has traveled extensively, visiting countries such as Vietnam, India, Japan, the USA, and several European nations.
