Sundarbans and Hilsha

Differently Different “Sundarbans and Hilsha” This book delves into the deep, intertwined history of the Sundarbans mangrove forest and the iconic Hilsa fish. Through a detailed exploration of geological, biological, and ecological evidence, it challenges conventional views about the formation of the Sundarbans and the evolutionary path of Hilsa.
The story unfolds from the ancient Tethys Sea to the Himalayan rivers, revealing how shifting continents, changing salinity, and the movement of ancient forests shaped today’s unique ecosystems. It explains why freshwater dolphins survive in tidal forests, why both saltwater and freshwater species coexist in the Sundarbans, and why the Hilsa remains inseparably linked to Bangladesh’s coastal and river systems.
Combining science, geography, and mythology, Sundarbans and Ilish offers a fresh perspective on two of South Asia’s most treasured natural wonders, uncovering secrets written in land, water, and time.
